I Prayed For This
When times are difficult,
When I feel overwhelmed,
When my house is unkempt,
When I am sleep deprived,
When I feel pulled in every direction,
When anxiety starts to overtake me,
I remember…
I prayed for this.
I prayed for ten tiny toes and ten tiny fingers.
I prayed for chunky cheeks and rolls upon rolls.
I prayed for eyes wide with wonder.
I prayed for smiles that light up a room.
I prayed for contagious laughs that touch every soul.
I prayed for warm squishy cuddles.
I prayed to hear, “Mama hold you.”
I prayed for pitter-patters on the floor, echoing through the house.
I prayed for joy filled faces that light up a room.
I prayed for the sound of crying in the night.
I prayed for dirty diapers.
I prayed for spit up, slobber, and snot.
I prayed for peaceful moments rocking before bed.
I prayed for the little hand that reaches out to hold mine.
I prayed for active and energetic bodies.
I prayed for toys found in every crevice of our home.
I prayed for curious minds.
I prayed for loving hearts.
I prayed for strong wills.
I prayed for playful spirits.
I prayed for unique.
I prayed for “set apart.”
I prayed for snuggles under blankets.
I prayed for naps curled up on my chest.
I prayed for the warm soft head pressed up against my cheek.
I prayed for the outstretched arms, begging to be held.
I prayed for bedtime books, prayers, and cuddles.
I prayed for the spontaneous “I love you, Mama.”
I prayed for a love for family.
I prayed for a love for school.
I prayed for a love for church.
I prayed for a love for home.
I prayed for a house full of life.
I prayed for a home full of love.
I prayed for the beautiful chaos.
When moments are difficult,
I remember…
I prayed for this.
To God be the glory.
